Scotiabank Nuit Blanche presents junctQín keyboard collective performing Sonic Toys in Transit in partnership with Al Green Theatre
junctQín is featured in Toronto’s 2010 Scotiabank Nuit Blanche!
junctQín presents Invention in Three Parts, a performance installation by Douglas C. Wadle. Seven oversized scores project onto the walls for the toy pianists to interpret: one original and six colourful abstractions. Each new score sets up new conditions; each new condition creates new performances. Simultaneously, a solo cellist performs in a room with six microphones while a sound artist creates a live-mix of this musical line to play back into the theatre. The audience moves freely, manipulating the space and creating physical barriers and challenges to the performers. How do the performers navigate physically and musically? Does the audience interfere or remain passive spectators? What is the reaction to each other’s intrusion?
This performance art installation will also feature special guest cellist Kerri McGonigle and sound designer Peter Olsen.
